Art in the Garden

Dates & Times: June 17 - 21 (Week 4), 1 PM - 4 PM (waitlist only!)

Location: Georgeson Botanical Garden, UAF Campus

Cost: $195

Description: Campers will spend the day exploring the Georgeson Botanical Garden and all its natural wonders. Young artists will sharpen their observational skills and explore art techniques such as plein air painting, solar prints, drawing, printmaking, and more. Please wear comfortable, protective clothing that suits whatever kind of weather we may encounter.

Instructor: Jessie Hedden

A little about your instructor: Jessie Hedden is a painter and sculptor who works with abstract and representational imagery, basing both approaches on direct observation. Dynamic composition, luminous color, and the formal elements are central to her work. Hedden has a BA from Hampshire College and an MFA from the University of Washington. Her awards include a Rasmuson grant and two All Alaska Juried awards from the Anchorage Museum. She has been a faculty member at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, since 2000. Jessie lives in Fairbanks with her husband, fellow artist David Mollett and their son Blake.
