Groundlings Shakespeare Camp

Dates & Times: June 16 - 27 (Week 4 - Week 5), 10 AM - 4 PM (Full-day!) 2-week camp

Description: Groundlings Shakespeare Camp is a two-week study in Shakespeare, including drama games, stage combat, acting lessons, text analysis, scene work, stage makeup, and sonnets. Students will develop public speaking skills, stage presence, and self-confidence. The camp will culminate in a performance of a short presentation of Shakespearean scenes and fight choreography.

Instructor: Carey Seward

A little about Carey: Carey Seward is a playwright and musician in Fairbanks, Alaska. She has worked with the Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre as a company member over the last 20 years, most recently as Director of the summer mainstage A Midsummer Night's Dream (2022) and Music Director for Macbeth (2019). As a teaching artist, Seward works as an Artist in the Schools (2004-2023), teaching drama, playwriting, and Shakespeare.

Assistant Instructor: Jivan Gordon-Wolfe

A little about Jivan: Jivan Gordon-Wolfe is active in our local theater community, having appeared in productions with FLOT, FDA, and FST. He has also worked as an assistant teacher in summer camps with both FST and FDA. When not performing in a production, he spends his time training and teaching martial arts, where he has achieved the rank of 4th Degree Black Belt in TKD. He also works on and assists with training actors in the art and skill of stage fighting.
