Instructor: Kristeena Brinkley

A little about your instructor: Kristeena was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska, and recently moved back from Washington. Even though she has taught American Sign Language her whole life, she found her passion for American Sign Language tutoring a few years ago. She started working for UAF/CTC as an ASL tutor and ASL instructor a couple of years ago and has hosted many ASL events for UAF/CTC. She is also on the board of the Alaska Deaf Council, advocating equal accessibility for deaf people, deaf children's education, and the deaf communities all over Alaska. When she is not teaching or volunteering, she enjoys snowboarding, camping, fishing, and traveling.

Instructor: Kathryn Widener

A little about your instructor: Kathryn Widener was born in Washington and moved to Alaska with her family when she was a baby and was raised here. She became deaf at the age of two. Kathryn has taught American Sign Language through UAF. She grew up in between the hearing and deaf worlds. She always finds it difficult to communicate with hearing people without American Sign Language. Kathryn started teaching ASL at CTC last year. She enjoys socializing at UAF/CTC. She helps the host for ASL events at UAF/CTC and Deaf-initely Social in Fairbanks. She is also on the board of the Alaska Deaf Council, deaf children's education, and the deaf communities all over Alaska. She enjoys traveling, gardening, and spending time with her dogs and children when she is not teaching or volunteering.
