Grades 4 - 6: July 7 - 11 (Week 6), 1 PM - 4 PM (Waitlist only!)
Location: Georgeson Botanical Garden, UAF Campus
Cost: $200
Description: Come learn the basics of surviving outdoors, including: navigating in the woods, carving with knives, identifying wild plants, first aid, fire building, and establishing camp.
Instructor: Jillian Johns
A little about Jillian: Jillian grew up in California’s Bay Area, led backpacking ventures at her college in Upstate New York, and has worked with kids in outdoor settings since high school. She has shared her passion for the outdoors in recent years as a summer camp director and co-manager of a year round program in California with Spencer.
Instructor: Spencer Nace
A little about Spencer: Spencer worked on UAF Summer Sessions camps for several years, graduated from UAF in 2020, and has spent the last few years as a wilderness education camp instructor & manager in Oregon and California (alongside Jillian!). He has a passion for learning about plants, animals, and the wild world around us!
