Through outdoor activities and guided observation, students will learn essential birding skills- this camp is perfect for curious young naturalists who love being outside and discovering wildlife!
Instructor: Annika Merkel
A little about your instructor: Hi! My name is Annika, and I grew up here in Fairbanks. I love nature, and especially birds, and have worked with songbirds for almost half of my life. Songbirds are super neat, and I want to share that with everyone! They are very tough, and we could all learn a thing or two from their persistence. In my free time, I love being outside, reading, and playing the violin.
Here's Annika releasing a bird during one of her first summers working with the Alaska Songbird Institute!
Instructor: Molly Cable
A little about your instructor: Molly Cable was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska, and has worked with the Alaska Songbird Institute's Tree Swallow program for the past 6 summers. She loves all of Alaska's Songbirds and enjoys sharing this love with learners of all ages. In her spare time, you can find Molly hiking or biking with her dogs, or inside working on an art project.
