Grades: 6 - 9
Dates & Times: August 10 - 14 (Week 10), 1 PM - 4 PM
Location: Gruening 412, UAF Campus
Cost: $250
Description: In this camp, we will create one of a kind sewn objects. Your experience using a sewing machine is required since we will be using advanced sewing techniques. We’ll be using recycled material for this class (jeans, sweaters, curtains and sweatshirts) to create mittens, hats, bags, pillows and hoodies. We’ll get practice adding zippers, buttons and velcro to our projects. Toward the end of the week, if you have an idea you’d like to pursue, your experienced counselor can help you on your way to a finished project.
Instructor: Marla Statscewich
A little about Marla: Marla has 35+ years of sewing experience and most recently taught the sewing class at the Visual Arts Academy at UAF for 12-17 year olds. She is self taught and loves to experiment with fabric.
