Description: It’s the world of microbes and you’re living in it! Join us in taking a close look at the life around us, from microscopic organisms living in pond water to bacteria living on our fingertips. We’ll learn about the scientific method, using a microscope, setting up Petri plates to let bacteria grow, and more!
Instructor: Beth Cramer
A little about your instructor: Growing up, I always got very excited whenever my science classes had us looking at things under microscopes and learning about cells. It didn’t matter if I was looking at organisms in pond water or bacteria on a slide, it blew my mind to see the tiny life around me. I took that love and went to school for microbiology and medical laboratory science. I’m now back at home in Fairbanks, working as a microbiologist in a hospital laboratory. I’m excited to share my love of microbiology and show young scientists the wonders of the microscopic world around us.
