Description: Discover the ancient art of archery in this hands-on introductory camp. Campers will learn the fundamentals of safely and accurately shooting a traditional bow, including proper form, equipment basics, and how to use appropriate archery targets. We’ll explore the history of archery and its connections to Alaska while spending plenty of time practicing on the range and enjoying the thrill of watching arrows fly true to the target. Emphasis is placed on safety, skill-building, and having fun.
Instructor: Krista and Sterling Holbrook
A little about your instructor: Krista has been shooting and hunting with a Traditional Bow for more than 30 years. She has taught children archery in a variety of venues including, Moundville Native American Festival, Alabama Children’s Hospital archery shoot fund raiser, and Claiborne Traditional skills Outdoor Days. She is a Bowhunter Education instructor for AK Fish and Game, and frequently publishes in Traditional Bowhunter magazine
